We focus a lot on controlling our bodies, tempers, words, etc, in

We focus a lot on controlling our bodies, tempers, words, etc, in our house.  It seems that most of us are naturally impulsive and need to learn self restraint and think about what we say or do prior to doing it, and not afterwards with the remorse that often comes with mistakes. Most of my lessons come from gospel topics and things I think my family needs.  This week, I wanted to reinforce the topic of self restraint and how we block the Spirit when we're focused on what we want instead of what the Lord wants for us. I decided to make sensory bottles using some plastic bottles I found at Michael's craft store, clear glue, glitter glue, water, and different types of glitter.  I had everything on hand except the bottles, but you could experiment with things to put in.  We like the look of the night sky so tried to replicate that. Materials: Clear glue Plastic bottle with lid Water Glitter Perler beads, pompoms, etc (optional) Glitter glue (optional) Food coloring (optional) Super glue Pour the clear glue into the bottle until it is approximately 1/4 of the way full.  If desired, pour a small amount of glitter glue in.  Pour in desired glitter and other sensory items.  If you wish to use colored water, add food coloring to your water, and fill the bottle up the rest of the way with water.  Apply superglue to the lid of the bottle and to the neck, and screw the lid on tightly. Let sit for a few minutes to set.  After the glue has set, shake the bottle vigorously.  The glitter glue tends to lump together until the bottle is shaken several times. Let the bottle sit and watch the sensory items slowly fall.  As we made our sensory bottles, we talked about how we felt when we got angry.  Was it easy to concentrate and think clearly, or did we just think about what made us angry?  Do we end up doing things that we shouldn't and regret later? *see blog link in bio for full lesson
